About this Event
You will learn to use a pointed fiber-tipped brush to create beautiful thick-and-thin letters. To build awareness for the pressure-release technique to create the letters, you will also learn “faux calligraphy” which can be adapted to larger poster work.
Skill Level: An introduction to calligraphy is suggested as a pre-requisite, but not required. This class is suitable for beginners.
Recording: This is a live on-line class, which we are not recording.
Supply List:
Tombow ABT Dual Brush Pens in 1) black, 2) choice of color and 3) soft grey
Pad of marker paper (e.g., Canson XL Marker)
Fine Sharpie non-bleed black pen 0.8
Handouts: We will email the handouts to you shortly before the class.
About Instructor Sally Penley: Sally Penley is a graphic designer and lettering artist in Olympia, Washington (USA). She has a BFA in Design and is a fulltime working artist at her studio at Buck’s Fifth Avenue in Olympia where she also holds various workshops and curates art shows for the Buck’s Fifth Avenue Loft Gallery. Requirements: This is a virtual workshop. Students should have the following:
Ability to receive handouts via email and print them before the workshop.
Computer or other internet-connected device with a built-in camera.
Zoom conferencing software and familiarity with the platform.
