Zoom in with MAC • Got Washi Tape?
Got Washi Tape?
presented by MAC Board Member, Wink Covintree
Use Washi tape and simple supplies to make fun birthday cake cards, holiday cards, and other
special occasion cards. At some point, I found myself with several rolls of Washi tape but not
a very satisfying use for it. Then I thought of cake, layer cakes, and turned tape into cakes. Try
it with me on the 17th!
Supplies
Washi tape
Paper
Markers
Scissors

Zoom in with MAC • Welcoming Summer with Weathergrams
WELCOMING SUMMER with WEATHERGRAMS
presented by MAC Board Member, Judith Cattran
Judith Cattran will teach WELCOMING SUMMER with WEATHERGRAMS! The summer solstice arrives on June 20, and we can honor it using this unique method created years ago by Portland calligrapher Lloyd Reynolds.
One can just watch and learn about weathergrams or (with the following simple supplies) make your own:
Supplies
Brown kraft paper (OR a paper grocery bag)
Scissors and ruler
Your favorite lettering supplies (permanent inks are best, but whatever you have)
Also, to complete your weathergram:
A one-hole punch
Twine or string
Judith usually gets together with a friend to make these for each season’s annual arrival!
Zoom in with MAC • Paper Folding with Debbie Gallas
Learn to Fold, Pleat and Twist Paper with MAC Member Debbie Gallas
Together we’re going to explore the wonders of a Paul Jackson design. With some basic supplies and a few folds and snips, this magical structure will come to life before our very eyes! One side of our paper ends up looking woven, and the other side will have nine elements popping off of the page. You can write on it, draw on it, frame it, make it into a card.... Once you learn the basic concept, the possibilities are endless. Come fold with me!
Supplies
Paper (with contrasting sides).
Please choose a paper that is text weight or lighter. You can use printer paper (with one side plain and one side printed with text or a photo), scrapbooking paper (NOT CARDSTOCK), a calligraphy practice page on marker paper, or even a page from a magazine or calendar (one side with LOTS of color and the other side with text or a contrasting color). You choose! The paper size should be around 8-1/2 by 11”. Feel free to use 9 x 12, 8 x 10, etc. You get the idea — we just need a rectangle.
(What if it’s the last minute and you need a sheet for this demonstration? Don’t despair. Grab a sheet of copy paper and scribble with your markers or crayons on one side. Voila! You’re ready to join us for the fun.)Scissors (small, pointy, sharp would be ideal)
Pencil
Fine-point black marker
Eraser
Ruler
Bone folder (old gift card, butter knife, ...)
